I really don’t know what they were thinking remaking Castle Freak. Especially if they were going to ignore the very family driven story to shoe horn in poorly written cosmic horror, just because Castle Freak is based on a story by H.P. Lovecraft. The gag is that the H.P. Lovecraft story Castle Freak is based on, “The Outsider” is one of his stories that doesn’t really feature much in the way of cosmic horror.

What “The Outsider” does have is an engaging story about a monster that doesn’t know he is a monster. The story is told from the point of view of the monster. A lot of Castle Freak 1995 is also from the perspective of Giorgio (the monster), played amazingly by Jonathan Fuller. See My full breakdown in the video below:
